Who can apply for a County Music Group, how much it costs to take part, membership conditions and frequently asked questions.

Before you apply

Please read all the application information with your parents/carers before applying.

Please Check your availability for all dates – all the ensembles require every player to practise, rehearse and perform. Seating positions within an ensemble can be greatly affected by the availability of members.

NB. The yearly programme for SYO & SYWB builds towards our international tours. All rehearsal days and concerts throughout the year are designed to prepare these ensembles for our international concert schedule and to ensure that these tours are of the very highest quality. Due to this, our members availability for the tours are of the upmost importance

Please make sure you have read our membership conditions and audio/visual policy

As you complete your application

  • Please tell us which music group you're applying for. If you're not sure, you can leave this blank.
  • You can apply for more than one music group however spaces in Suffolk Youth Orchestra will be filled, first.
  • If you're a woodwind or brass player, do you double on another instrument? If so, please note this down on your application. If not, would you like to learn?
  • If you're aged 18 or over, we do not need your parent/carer's contact details.
  • We reserve the right to offer you a place in a different music group. Please be aware that places on some instruments are limited and this may be necessary to ensure proper musical balance within and between different groups.
