Many Kinds of Blue - Ipswich Jazz Festival 2019 workshop

Saturday 22 June 2019, 1pm to 4pm at Northgate Arts Centre, Ipswich

Join Suffolk County Music Service for an exciting workshop as part of the Ipswich Jazz Festival!

Trumpeter Miles Davis was one of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century and 2019 marks the 60th anniversary of Kind of Blue, probably Davis’ best known and a classic jazz recording.

Using Kind of Blue as a starting point, this workshop will introduce young musicians to the concept of modal jazz – an easily understandable gateway into jazz improvisation.

Participants will have the chance to play alongside top professional jazz musicians – all of whom are renowned performers, experienced educators and enthusiastic communicators. The tutors are Arnie Somogyi (double bass), Neil Yates (trumpet), Chris Ingham (piano) and George Double (drums).
