Songwriting

Would you like to learn about the music industry? Write your own songs and create music with other young musicians? 

Unlock your creative potential in our Songwriting course! 

This course is led by Mercury nominated producer and songwriter Christopher Lockington. Chris has worked with many artists, including Emika, ghostpoet, Pillars, and Rox. He has also worked for the Pias, Atlantic, and Universal record labels.

  • Session skills
  • Composition
  • Lyric writing
  • Writing for other instruments
  • Learn about pop and all genres of music
  • Work as a solo artist, and as a group with other young musicians
Who can take part?

This course is suitable for Secondary school students who live in Suffolk, or go to school/are home educated in Suffolk.

Northgate Arts Centre, Sidegate Lane West, Ipswich IP4 3DF

Thursdays from 4.30 to 5.30pm.

Cost

If you are already a member of Suffolk Youth Music (SYM), this course is included in your membership.

If you are not currently a member and would like to sign up, please contact the County Music Service. Membership costs £60 per member per term. Remissions are available. For more information please visit the Join SYM page.
