Beginner ensembles

Suffolk Youth Music beginner ensembles are for:

  • children and young people in their first year of learning, and
  • pupils who receive Key Stage 2 Whole Class Ensemble Teaching lessons with a County Music Service tutor at school.

Also known as First Access Ensembles, these ensembles offer an excellent introduction to group music-making for players at a standard equivalent to grade 0-1.

Starting in January each year, these programmes provide opportunities for all instruments.

Key Stage 2 beginner ensembles

For pupils in their first year of learning an instrument with a County Music Service tutor in school, these activities are free of charge during the spring and summer terms of that first year.
